MABTR Adoption Memory Video

"In a perfect world, every dog would have a home and every home would have a dog."

The first step to adopting a rescued dog is completing an adoption application. There is NO FEE for submitting an application with us.  There is an online adoption application (click on the bone below) or a hard copy can be mailed to you.  For a hard copy call 402-510-1346.  You only need to submit one application as we file it up to three (3) months.

MABTR adopts to families in Nebraska, Colorado, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, North & South Dakota, Arkansas, Utah, Wisconsin, and Wyoming.

Once your adoption application is received you will receive an email confirmation within 72 hours of receipt.  If you do not hear back from us within this time frame please contact us immediately as we did not receive your application. Adoption applications are kept on file for three(3) months or until we identify the right dog for you and your family. Once a Boston is identified the foster parent of the dog being considered will contact you for a phone interview.  If agreed upon that we have found the right dog a home visit is then scheduled. The purpose of a home visit is to meet the prospective adopters and to evaluate the appropriateness and safety of the home that will be provided.  If you reside within 60 miles from where the dog is being fostered then the dog will participate in the home visit.

Each adoption consists of an adoption contract and an adoption fee. The adoption fee varies from $150 to $350 which is based strictly on the age of the dog.  The adoption fee for Boston mixes range from $150 to $175.  For our dogs over the age of seven they qualify for our Golden Paws for Golden Years program.  Adoption fees help cover the medical costs invested in the dog. We state the adoption fee in the profile of each dog listed online.  There are no hidden costs.

MABTR follows a simple but expensive process that involves foster care (click here to meet our foster families), medical care, rehabilitation (if necessary), placement (re-homing), and education to new owners regarding the health, care, and ownership of a Boston Terrier.

Prior to adoption ALL rescued Bostons are spayed or neutered, microchipped, tested for heartworm, dewormed, vaccinated for rabies and distemper, and any other medical needs such as but not limited to dental cleaning, tumor removal, orthopedic and eye surgery. We start all Bostons on heartworm preventative and begin obedience training, and potty training within the foster home.

Your new Bostons will also come with all medical records, a harness, treats, a coupon for $5 off a bag of dry dog food from PetSmart and their  favorite toy.  Sweaters/T-shirts ($5-7) and crates ($15-20) are also available.

A trial period of two weeks is offered with each adoption to ensure we made the right match. It is at the end of the two week trial period does MABTR cash the adoption fee and register the microchip in your name.

MABTR has a great network of transport volunteers. With that said your travel requirements to meet your new dog is minimal.  We have transports in and out of all the states we adopt to so you are eligible for dogs outside of your state.

MABTR is also always available to answer any questions or address any concerns.
