Archie at the age of 1.5 years old was turned over to MABTR in April 2023 by his family after many tests were performed with no answers of why Archie had so much droll and saliva coming from his mouth. It was like a St Bernard in a Boston body. They no longer could afford additional tests and were frustrated from the constant clean up. Droll came from his mouth 24/7. Never stopped. The owner's vet repaired his elongated pallet assuming that was the root cause with no change.
We assumed he has a plugged salivary gland so we had him transported from MN to NE to be scoped where it was found he had a hair ball. Yes a hair ball that you find in cats, not dogs. We needed up going into surgery where his stomach was opened up to have it removed. It was as big as a fist. The vet was surprised he was still alive and never seen such a thing out of a dog. Within hours after surgery no more drool. He has been drool free since.
MABTR's total medical bill for Archie came to $807 (which includes a discount). His MABTR adoption fee was $400 which is based on age, not our investment in the care.
